Staòkov

The Staòkov Community is situated about 2 km northeast of Chlum u Tøebonì.
It was established in the 2 nd half of the 16 th century, when the first peasant
estates were built in the neighbourhood of the outlet of the large newly constructed
pond called Soused (Neighbour). Its dam aroused respect by its large size and
the height of its wall. With its 18 m wall it is still today the highest pond
dam in the Czech Republic. Another notable feature of this pond, which is the
work of the famous master builder Mikuláš Ruthard from Malešov, is its length,
reaching almost 7 km.
The ponds Staòkovský and Hejtman serve sports fishermen. There are several paths for cyclists crossing Chlum and Staòkov, and a border pass to Austria has also been opened.
